My name is Indy after Indiana Jones, the archeologist and adventurer Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones Jr. in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I’m not an archaeologist but I sure like to explore and go on adventures.
My Mom found me at the Inyo County Shelter in Big Pine, California. The people who work there are really nice. They gave us lots of food and blankets and took us on walks. The people at the shelter found me and my five brothers and sisters in a small town outside of Death Valley. We were really little and scared. Mom doesn’t talk about where I came from because it makes me nervous. Even though I’m really brave, I’m afraid of certain sounds like loud pops and beeping noises. I liked my Mom right away because she didn’t bark and she has a special way of rubbing my ears and kissing my nose.
Most people think I’m named after Independence where we live but like I said, I’m named after the great adventurer. We go on adventures everyday and my job is to chase deer and squirrels and make sure Mom doesn’t get lost while we run through the desert or to the top of the mountains. Sometimes we run through the snow. Mom says I have built in crampons so I don’t slip in the snow. Sticks were always my favorite things to play with but now I have a collection of real toys. Aunt Sarah, Jettie, Ginnie and Mary and Uncle Jef bring me toys when they visit. So far I have Sharkie the shark (1, 2 and 3), Allie the alligator, Clooney the raccoon, Foxie the fox, Ringo the Star (1 and 2), Lobby the lobster, Snakie the rubber snake. Most of them die as soon as I get them but Snakie, Ringo and Lobby are still alive.
We have a new home called SnowPaw. It’s a van with a bed inside and I like to sit on top and look out the windows. We go to cool places like Death Valley and Benton Hot Springs. Mom says we are going on another adventure and I’ll let you know how it goes. I will keep you posted about “Indy’s Favorite Things” like sticks and toys and kibbles and treats.
